As young girls, we were forced to be friends with all of the girls in our classrooms even when [secretly] we didn't care for the majority of them. I never liked the drama and cattiness that came along with being friends with females so I chose to befriend the boys most of the time. Unfortunately, that left me feeling isolated when we got into high school. Girls were shopping, fixing each other's hair, doing each other's nails, etc. and I was hanging at home or working.

Girlfriends Forever: We've Got Each Other's Back by Reeda Joseph is one of those books that captures the attention of any woman. It's full of fun statements and quotes that bring back beautiful memories of friendship! We can all relate to at least a few of them! As the back of the book states, "Friendship isn't a big thing -- it's a million little things" and as Marlene Dietrich is quoted, "It's the friends you can call up at 4 am that matter". Let me tell you - truer words couldn't have been spoken when it comes to girlfriends!
Over the past few years, I have been blessed to have found some amazing girlfriends - two of whom are featured below!
These two ladies have been there for me through so much. Rachelle (pictured left) and I met while working at Cracker Barrel in 2003. We both have gone through terrible relationships and have helped hold each other up through the mess. She is a HUGE inspiration to me because she has succeeded in finishing school while being a full-time single mom, has a demanding career and still manages to find time to help me through my crazy issues!
Michele (pictured right) is a newer friend but that doesn't mean I love her any less! We met after I started blogging and has since been the main gal I turn to when I need blogging advice. Now she is someone I can go to about more personal issues too! She has listened to me vent through blogging frustrations and whine through the health issues.
I'm so used to women being out for no one but themselves but these two ladies have made me have faith in the "Code" of Girlfriends again. This book is the perfect gift for the gals in your life who have been there through thick and thin as well as the ups and downs. My divorce was extremely draining financially and particularly emotionally. When I did a quick flip-through of the book, this is the page that it landed on. I couldn't help but get giggly in that silly little girl way.
There are times I often forget about the important ladies I have in my life but this book was a great reminder! It's full of sassy-ness and attitude (which I sometimes have!).
You can pick this book up in hardcover from Viva Editions for $14.95. I recommend also checking out Reeda Joseph's book, Girlfriends are Livesavers. I know mine have been!
